You can also collect discarded weapons from the battlefield, making these yet another resource. You can outfit your Spartan hoplites with a spear, short sword and shield, or your Persian Immortals with scimitars. Sparta allows you to equip your units with a wide variety of weapons and armor. The game makes up for this shortcoming by introducing several fresh new ideas to the basic strategy mold. The resulting battles are more like chaotic brawls than strategic, carefully planned tactical engagements.
